Hello, today Mr. Douša was with us and installed the Drypol device for us, it was an excellent approach and a very professional lecture about the device and test boreholes for measuring humidity. It was all at a high level and professionalism. I praise and thank Mr. Douša. Karel Koucky.

Hello, our experience with the DryPol system has been very good. We were a little skeptical at first, but after installation and commissioning we changed our minds. The house started to dry out and not just by feel. First the smell of damp disappeared, later the plaster also dried out. Mr. Douša, who installed the system for us, explained everything to us, including later questions. We were completely convinced of the functionality of the system by the subsequent control measurements. We recommend the product and are convinced of its functionality. I would like to point out that this is an old house, without insulation, proper foundations and walls made of stone and wattle and daub.

Hello. I was looking for a way to dehumidify an old family house. I found a Drypol moisture removal device that was supposed to work wirelessly. Mr. Michal Douša came, explained everything, did some test drilling, recorded the values from the damp masonry, and installed the device. After three years, I had the masonry retested, and the measured values were much lower and therefore within tolerance. About a year and a half after installing the device, I also had the house completely dug up.

SMS: Three years after the installation of the device for drying the masonry, we asked to measure the humidity in the walls. In some places in the house, we had doubts that the device was working. After a careful measurement, which was carried out by Mr. Michal Douša, we were convinced that everything was in order. He again willingly explained everything to us. Thank you very much. Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the DryPol® masonry dryer installed?

The DryPol® masonry drying device is always installed in the centre of the building to ensure its range (30 m or 50 m depending on type) covers all parts and corners of the building.

Where the building is “L” shaped, we install the electro-physical masonry dryer in the corner of the building.

If other buildings on the customer’s land are within range of the DryPol® masonry dryer, these can also be dried and permanently insulated as long as the device is installed in a suitable location. The effect of the DryPol® masonry dryer works on all masonry with proper foundations, which also means the bases of fences within range of the device.

If the building has a basement, we install the masonry drying device in the centre of the basement. If there is only a smaller cellar, we install the masonry drying device in the centre of the ground floor as soil is an insulator and the signal generated by the masonry dryer will not penetrate through it.

In what units are masonry moisture values given?

First, let's talk about the units in which humidity is measured. The moisture content of masonry is measured as a percentage of the total weight. The higher the readings, the more water the wall contains, although this may not be apparent on the affected wall at first. We therefore indicate the moisture content of the masonry in percentages.

Why do we have a standard for masonry moisture?

What's the use of the masonry moisture standard? Should we even deal with it when we feel comfortable in the house?

Probably, most people deal with the prescribed norm of humidity of masonry at the moment when there are already problems in the world such as damp spots or falling plaster. A property owner who does not notice anything suspicious is usually not interested in the problem. And this is a mistake, because the absence of visual indicators of wet masonry does not mean that everything is fine.

At first we really don't have to notice anything. Only the moisture measurement of the masonry and the standard that gives the recommended values inform us about the hidden problem in time. Only thanks to this, we can solve the situation in time and not at the moment when it will cost us much more time, effort and money.

The meaning of the masonry moisture standard

You may be wondering why you should deal with the permitted moisture content of masonry, when you can see with your own eyes whether your wall is damp and not up to standard. However, the rising humidity of the masonry may not be noticeable at first glance, and by the time damp spots start to appear on the wall, it may be too late. That is why we should be vigilant whenever we suspect increased humidity above the given norm and prefer to undergo a masonry moisture measurement. And what should be the healthy humidity of masonry? You will find out in the following lines.

The difference between air humidity and masonry humidity

It is important not to confuse air humidity with masonry humidity. Although the two terms are related, each refers to something different. Air humidity represents the degree of filling of the air with water vapor, which is something completely different from the humidity of the masonry. However, it can be assumed that the high humidity of the masonry will also increase the air humidity in the room, which should be in the range of 40-60%.

Is the Drypol® system expensive?

If you own a damp building, meaning if your building is affected by capillary rising damp and you want to dry the masonry and resolve the problem, you only have three basic options:

  1. Remove the moisture by undercutting
  2. Remove the rising damp using chemical grouting
  3. Dry the damp masonry with subsequent permanent electronic waterproofing of the building using an electro-physical method

Let’s take a look at these techniques for removing moisture from the walls of a building purely from the price perspective. We are not saying that 1.694 EUR to 1.815 EUR for a DryPol® system is small change, but compare the approximate prices yourself:

  • Undercutting a building affected by damp: undercutting a whole building, including interior walls, costs on average CZK 150 000 or more.
  • Chemical grouting in the walls: chemical grouting for a whole building, including interior walls, costs around CZK 100 000 or more.
  • The DryPol® system: without any construction work in the building, meaning without any significant structural interventions, you get a dry ground floor including the interior walls, upper floors, flooring, cellars, flooring in the cellars, and reduced moisture levels in the foundations, savings on heating bills and reduced radon in the air in the building. All this for a final price of between 1.694 EUR and 1.815 EUR incl. VAT and the related services.

The DryPol® system guarantees significantly increased comfort because the building will be dry. It is also clear that when a property needs to be sold, the selling price for a dry building is much higher and it will be much easier to attract buyers.
